Best water to grow organic cannabis in soil

There is literally nothing more important than having the adequate water to grow organic cannabis. In this article, we will focus on growing organic cannabis, in the soil – which doesn’t require the same water as with other methods.

Without water, your cannabis plant would not be able to get the right nutrients. Water takes nutrients and oxygen through your plant. Having the right water, adequate to your growing method is what will determine whether your plant will grow.

pH is what defines how acidic or alkaline your water is, 0 being the most acid, and 14 the most alkaline. Neutral water is at 7. Most cannabis growers will spend a lot of time focusing on pH, as cannabis grows best within the range of 6-7. pH has a direct impact on the health of your plant. For example, if the pH is too high, your plants will not manage to take-up iron. Similarly, if the pH is too low your plants will not be able to get sufficient minerals such as calcium or magnesium.

Lucky for us, we grow organic cannabis in soil. With this particular approach to growing, (unlike hydroponic systems) you want microorganisms to help the plant soak up all the nutrients it can from the soil. Adjusting the pH, in this case, can actually do a lot of harm to your ecosystem.

Now that we don’t need to worry about pH, unlike with hydroponic systems, you will need to make sure that you get rid of the chlorine. Tap water contains chlorine to prevent it from accumulating bacterias as it travels from the water treatment plant to your home. As we explained earlier, to grow organic cannabis, you want microorganisms to help the plant soak up all the nutrients it can from the soil. Adding chlorine to your soil will kill these microorganisms.

The easiest method for ridding your water of its chlorine, as well as all byproducts of chlorine, is to filter your tap water. Using a small sized, easy to install activated carbon filter such as TAPP 2 will remove 98% of the chlorine. The advantage of using an activated carbon filter like TAPP, is that is specially designed to keep the healthy minerals in. Your plant needs calcium and magnesium to grow, and leaving them in will be an advantage to your plant.

Plastic pollution

Plastic pollution is a growing issue. Buying bottled water, or commercial cannabis nutrients often mean adding to this existing plastic pollution. With our simple tips, you are helping your plant and the planet. TAPP is the first water filter with biodegradable refills, so you can water as much as you want, and not have to worry about adding more plastic to the oceans.

Oh, and the best part is, you can drink the same water as your plant! Neat huh?
