Last year over 250 billion bottles of water were consumed, resulting in unsustainable amounts of plastic pollution being dumped into rivers, lakes, and oceans, and making their way back to our taps as microplastics.
How did we get there? Why are people buying bottled water at a premium?
Water is the source of all life on earth. Mountains, rivers, lakes, aquifers used to offer pristine clean water. Water was only tainted in rare cases by naturally occurring toxins, harmful to humans, such as Coliform or Arsenic.
Then came the agricultural and industrial revolutions and we poisoned our most precious resource.
At the same time, governments started introducing water treatments such as chlorine to kill bacteria, all the while filtering technology was improving.

Why would anyone want a connected smart water filter?
Too often technology is integrated with devices because it can be but not because it solves a problem. Recent examples include connected toasters (Griffin), toothbrushes (Oral B) and juice makers (Juicero) and ovens (June).
The Internet of Things and technology can be extremely useful though. Think of climate control (Nest), lights (Philips Hue and Ikea Smart Lightning), door locks (August and Yale) and home sensors (Minut Point). The common key to success is that they solve consumer problems.
What is the #jointheTAPPrevolution? In most of North America and Europe, we are fortunate enough to have clean healthy water. Despite this, more and more people are replacing tap water with bottled water. This year more than 250 billion bottles of water will be sold whereas less than 10% are recycled.
But there is a solution in many parts of the world, and it’s called tap water.
At TAPP Water we promote the drinking of tap water through education, marketing, affordable water filters, refillable bottles and other tools and products. We present the facts based on known science about drinking water, contaminants, health impact and more.
TAPP comes from a combination of tap and app as our TAPP app plays an important role in keeping … Read more…

In the past 5 years, crowdfunding pages such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo have become synonymous with innovative technology. Well-known examples include Occulus VR, Pebble watch, Coolest Cooler and Amabrush. Each one of them had worked on the technology for years but used crowdfunding to launch to a community of people that embrace new solutions to solve problems in our day-to-day life’s. Tech for social good is a big category.
Crowdfunding helps companies validate ideas, solutions, technology and market communication early on. More importantly, though, it gives consumers early and highly discounted access to new products and services before … Read more…
We are on a mission to get people to drink tap water and stop single-use plastics. This is a huge challenge because it’s difficult to change human behavior and the commercial gain for TAPP Water is often limited. But let’s get back to this at the end.
Our mission is based on success in 3 areas:
Education – sharing facts and information about the benefits and quality of tap water. Because in most European countries the quality of tap water is just as good as bottled water. Product – providing an easy to use, affordable and ultimately effective water filter that delivers tasty and clean water from the tap. This is TAPP 2. But we not only stop … Read more…
