TAPP 1 (Faucet filter)

Why should I drink filtered tap instead of bottled water?

It’s safe and healthy to drink and also much cheaper than bottled water. Public tap water in Europe and North America is subject to regular and rigorous controls. TAPP filters additionally remove any contaminants as well as chlorine which is often the origin of poor tasting water. Filtered tap water is much more environmentally friendly than bottled water. Just consider the CO2 footprint of bottled water production, transportation and distribution. And last but not least, using a TAPP faucet filter is more convenient, as you can stop carrying heavy water bottles from the supermarket home.

What filtering system does TAPP 1 use?

TAPP 1 uses granular activated carbon (GAC) filter made of 100% organic coconut shells for filtration. See below for more information of what it filters. The casing is made of BPA-free plastic and the faucet attachment and adapters of stainless steel for robustness and minimum leakage.

What does TAPP 1 filter/remove?

TAPP 1 uses granular activated carbon that is very effective in removing at least 70 chemicals and reducing more than 50 other while letting healthy minerals remain in the drinking water. The most important chemicals removed and vastly reduced are:

Chlorine, which is often the cause of bad odour and taste,
– Bi-product Volatile organic Compounds (VoCs), such as THMs identified as potentially cancerous,
Heavy metals (lead, copper, etc.),
– Pesticides.

TAPP 1 will also reduce, but not remove arsenic, nitrates, chromium and pharmaceuticals. Note: Your water supplier is obliged to inform you if these chemicals are found to be above WHO, EU or EPA limits and recommendations. How do I know TAPP 1 works?

All TAPP Water products are tested and certified according to strict standards by independent lab and NSF specifications. Check the lab results by the Austrian Institute of Technology.

Results

Are the filters easy to install and use?

Yes. Installing the filter on your faucet will take less than a minute and is thoroughly explained in the bilingual instructions included in the filter box. Here you have an installation video.

Will the filter fit on my faucet at home?

Yes. TAPP filters are designed to fit on most standard faucets (22mm diameter). In general, you will have to remove the aerator (small device at the faucet tip) from your faucet before you can screw on the filter. In any case, TAPP 1 comes with two additional adapters (20mm and 24mm diameter). In the unlikely case that the included adapters do not do the trick, please get in touch with us and we will be glad to help you out. What is TAPP 1 made of?

The product is made of a BPA-free plastic housing, 100% natural coconut shell for the filter and stainless steel for the faucet connector.

What are the dimensions of the filter?

The filter’s dimensions are 11 x 13 x 7 centimetres. It weighs around 375 g.

Why is TAPP 1 better than other filters?

– TAPP 1 uses the highest quality coconut shell-based GAC filter, used for maximum filtering of chemicals and improvement of taste. This was selected after testing over 40 different variants.

– TAPP 1 delivers more clean filtered water for money than any pitcher, on-the-counter reverse osmosis or faucet filter available on the market today.

How often do I need to replace the TAPP 1 filter cartridge?

TAPP 1 filters are tested to effectively adsorb chemicals of between 1200-1500 litres of water (depending on water quality) or 2-3 months of water usage for an average household. Filters must be replaced at least every 3-4 months, even if they are not used frequently as the filter will lose its adsorption capability over time and thus no longer remove chemicals, bad taste and odour.

Why does the TAPP 1 filter cartridge need to be replaced every 2-3 months?

The lifetime of the filter cartridge depends on your water consumption as well as on the quality of the filtered tap water. In an average household of 3-4 people, the cartridge will last about three months. In order to ensure the longest possible lifespan of the cartridge, please avoid running hot (> 40ºC) or high pressure water through the cartridge/filter part of the device. Also, it is important not to use the cartridge for more than 4-5 months.

How can I check the status of my filter cartridge?

Once you receive your filter, you can register it in the MyTAPP section on our website or our app (available for Android and iOS).

How can I buy additional refill cartridges?

TAPP 1s (Shower filter)

Does it fit with all showers?

Yes, all showers that have a threaded male connection and room to fit the filter. The only showers where we have not managed to install them are showers that are integrated into the ceiling. Filter dimensions are approximately 10 cm (diameter) x 13 cm (height).

What kind of filter technology/media is used?

TAPP 1S uses KDF-55 which is the only proven effective shower media for high pressure and temperature. There is no need for additional media such as active carbon or Vitamin C. Several of other shower filters claim that Vitamin C removes 99% of chlorine, but there have been no independent tests showing this.

Does the filter soften the water?

The filter does not soften water in the way a traditional water softener does. However, it does make your hair and skin feel significantly softer by removing chlorine and other heavy metals.

How long does the filter last?

Approximately 6 months based on 2 daily showers of an average of 7 min. We do not recommend using it for longer than this. For households with more people you may want to replace it more often.

Does the filter reduce water pressure?

No, at least not noticeably. We do however also recommend using water saving shower heads in combination with the shower filter.

Yearly service model

How does the yearly service model work for TAPP 1?

We want to make it easy for you. When buying TAPP 1, you can opt for the yearly service model for 60 euros. Apart from the TAPP 1 faucet filter, you’ll then also receive 4 refill cartridges in order to ensure a constant and uninterrupted supply with fresh and clean tap water.

After one year you’ll automatically receive 4 more cartridges, and your credit card or PayPal account will be charged with 60 euros. Please note that, apart from the convenience, the yearly service model also means saving money, as a set of two replacement cartridges normally costs 35 euros.

What about the yearly service model for TAPP 1s?

It’s very similar here. Upon purchasing TAPP 1s, you can choose the yearly service model for 50 euros. You then receive TAPP 1s, and after 6 months, you automatically get a refill cartridge (Remember that each TAPP 1s cartridge has a lifetime of 6 months.).

After one year, your credit card or PayPal account is charged with 60 euros, and you receive new refills in order to make sure that you always have fresh and pure water in your shower or bath.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes, of course. Just send an e-mail to [email protected], indicating your e-mail address and we’ll cancel it for you. You can also cancel directly in your user account area in MyTAPP.

How can I track the status of my TAPP 1 filter cartridge?

Once you have received your filter, you should register it in your MyTAPP area, either on our website or via our marvellous app. There you will be able to monitor and check the status of your filter cartridge at any moment, alongside other interesting information, such as the CO2 emissions you saved by using TAPP filters.

Where do you deliver? What are the delivery times?

For now, we ship to the following countries: Spain (mainland + Balearic Islands), Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Shipping is always free. 
Delivery usually takes up to three workdays in Spain and about 5 to 10 days in the other countries. If you live outside the mentioned delivery zone, just shoot us an e-mail and we will figure out how to get the filter to you. [email protected]

What are the shipping fees?

None! If you live in one of the aforementioned areas, shipping is totally free of charge for you. 🙂

What is my login data for MyTAPP?

After ordering TAPP 1, you will receive a purchase confirmation e-mail with a link to your personal login and password data for MyTAPP. In case you have lost or deleted said e-mail, just get in touch with us via [email protected] and we will re-send your login data.

No need to worry. Just reach out to us via [email protected], and send us a picture of your faucet. We have additional adapters we can provide for free. If that does not do the trick either, you can always return the filter and we refund the purchase price.
