TAPP filtered mineral water for a longer and healthier life

TAPP filtered mineral water for a longer and healthier life

Could TAPP filtered mineral water help you live a longer and healthier life?

Everyone knows it's important to drink enough water. Dehydration prevents weight loss, zaps your energy and impacts your health. It’s a problem for many people.

It’s also a question of drinking the right water. Different kinds of mineral water have been prescribed by doctors and health professionals for hundreds of years to cure and prevent diseases.

The bottled water industry has leveraged health trends to drive more consumption of bottled water for years while the reputation of tap water has suffered. This is bad for the consumer wallet, the planet and potentially for your health.

But there’s great news.

Thanks to recent breakthrough innovation, the EcoPro water filter by TAPP Water can now supply you with the healthy, energised water your body craves straight from the tap. In regions with hard water you will get more alkaline water and minerals from TAPP than the average mineral water.

We don’t drink enough water

Tasty clean water straight from the tap will encourage you to drink more.

Why are minerals in drinking water important?

  • Drinking mineralised water have proven health benefits (contine reading below)
  • Alkaline water may have positive health effects

Note that tap water and bottled water that adheres to local regulations may still have negative health impact due to microplastics and other unregulated contaminants

How does TAPP filtered water compare to bottled mineral water?

The mineral content of tap water varies throughout Spain and throughout the year. Therefore tap water and filtered water cannot be compared on a general basis. But to illustrate what it could look like here’s the key minerals in Barcelona tap water based on one year averages and Font Vella which is the most sold mineral water in Spain:

Content Font Vella (Sant Hilari) 2020 TAPP filtered water Barcelona 2020-2023
Calcium 42 mg/l 90 mg/l
Magnesium 11.3 mg/l 24 mg/l
Bicarbonates 143 mg/l 233 mg/l

What is the mineral content of your local filtered water with TAPP?

One of the greatest benefits of TAPP vs other water filters is that our product retains all the healthy minerals in your tap water.

Visit our water quality database to find out the mineral content of your filtered water with TAPP. Spain only but more countries and regions will be added over time.

As an indication look for the following values to get some proven health benefits from the water:

  • Calcium: >30 mg/l
  • Magnesium: >5 mg/l
  • Sulfate: > 50 mg/l
  • Potassium: >5 mg/l
  • Bicarbonate: >50 mg/l
  • Chloride: >50 mg/l
  • Sodium: >50 mg/l

Why tap water with minerals is more healthy

Drinking water with minerals has proven benefits

Mineral water commonly contains substances like magnesium, calcium, sodium, and zinc, and, according to recent research, they're actually a pretty effective way to boost your mineral intake. The study showed that the bioavailability of calcium in mineral waters was comparable or possibly better than that of dairy products, meaning our body can readily absorb and utilize it." In addition to promoting healthy bone development, the study also notes “significant benefits for healthy digestion” thanks to magnesium sulphate, sodium sulphate, bicarbonate, and chloride.

Chloride

Chloride water may be used for hydropinic therapy and can be either hypo-, hyso- or hyperthermal waters inducing different biological effects, such as a stimulating effect on both gastric emptying and interdigestive cyclic motor activity of the gastro-duodenal tract. Source: Journal Research 2007

Calcium

Drinking water can represent an important dietary source of calcium and should be recognized as good low-calorie nutritional calcium supplements. Source: Pubmed NIH Research

European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) recognized the Health claim on calcium ‘is important for the development of bones’.

But isn’t calcium and limescale bad for you?

It is often suggested that a very weak mineralization water is better for the kidneys and that you should avoid high calcium water causing limescale. However, according to the Spanish Association of Urology there is no scientific evidence to prove it.

Magnesium

Magnesium from drinking water may be useful in obstetric-gynecologic pathologies: pre-menstrual syndrome, climaterium and postmenopausal osteoporosis. Source: Pubmed NIH Research

A recent meta-analysis, instead, demonstrated that in European population, (in particular in Scandinavian population) high levels of magnesium in drinking water may reduce the risk of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) mortality. Source: Pubmed NIH Research

Bicarbonate

Several studies have demonstrated the positive effects of bicarbonate mineral waters on the digestive tract. Source: Pubmed NIH

There is evidence that bicarbonate may have health effects on cardiometabolic risk biomarkers (reducing especially total-cholesterol, fasting glucose and LDL-cholesterol) (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27367723/)

What about Hydrogen and Alkaline water?

Currently there is no scientific research or evidence proving that Hydrogen or Alkaline water have health benefits beyond placebo. This doesn’t mean that it’s bad or that there are no benefits but simply that it’s not worth spending hundreds of dollars on Hydrogen machines, tablets or alkalisers. What are the potential negative health effects from bottled mineral water?

The concerns about bottled mineral water are related to the release of chemicals from bottles to water. Among these are the plasticizers, like the Di(2-ethylexyl)phthalate (DEHP) that is widely used as plasticizer and is also present in PET bottles Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a material chemical inactive, but some in vitro studies proved that storage conditions (like exposure to sunlight and high temperature) may contribute to the release of chemicals from bottles to water. Source: Pubmed NIH Research.

The release of estrogenic compounds from plastic material has been investigated also for tap water, that is distributed through plastic pipes. The summarized results show that the migration of 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol (2,4-d-t-BP) from plastic pipes could result in chronic exposure and the migration levels varied greatly among different plastic pipe materials and manufacturing brands. Source: Pubmed NIH Research

More recently there is also more research findings about the risks of microplastics in drinking water of which we still don't know enough.

Doesn’t all bottled mineral water have healthy minerals?

According to the regulation of mineral bottled water, they should always indicate their analytical composition, but the law does not specify which minerals. Thus, while some brands detail the quantities of up to 9 elements, others only of 4, which also do not always match.

Furthermore, the law also does not fix what mineral charge a water must have in order to advertise it as having health benefits or "safe for the preparation of children's food".

How does TAPP filters make tap water healthier?

There are several important aspects:

  • Keeps all the healthy minerals
  • Removes Microplastics, chlorine, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, heavy metals and 80+ other contaminants
  • Increases the pH for slightly more alkaline tap water
  • Oxygenates the water slightly through the filtering process

Note: Current regulation of tap water limits nitrates to a maximum of 50 mg/l. However, one of the criteria proposed by AECOSAN is that the nitrate concentration be less than 10 mg/l in water suitable for infant food preparations, as recommended by WHO. Source: AECOSAN Mineral Waters for Infants

Summary

In conclusion drinking water with minerals is a good choice in everyday life to satisfy the water needs of the body.

  • Filtered water by TAPP may help you live longer thanks to mineral content and removal of 99% of contaminants including chlorine, chloramine, pharma, heavy metals
