How does mineral water compare to tap water?

Do you really know what's the mineral water content? The normal perception is that mineral water is more mineral rich and thus healthier than tap water. But is this true? We decided to find out.

Step 1: Research of mineral water

First we took a sample of 5 water bottles and their mineral water content. Note: Jump straight to the summary at the bottom to skip the details.  

 

Step 2: Then we compared mineral water to tap water in 2 cities

Summary on mineral water vs tap water

Is mineral water healthier than tap water? Tap water sometimes contains more minerals than bottled mineral water and other times less. The mineral content in water varies a lot based on bottle and region. The content even varies based on the time of the year so there is a high level of uncertainty. Scientifically we know that minerals in water is positive but the majority comes from food intake. In conclusion there is no scientific evidence from our study or from other research that mineral water is healthier than tap water.
