How to install your tap water filter in 3 steps

  1. Check your tap. Standard F22 thread fits out of the box — need an adapter? [Find yours here]
  2. Screw it on. Hand-tighten onto the tap. No tools, about 30 seconds.
  3. Switch to filtered water whenever you need it. Replace the cartridge every 2–3 months for consistent filtration.

Frequently Asked Questions about tap water filters

How do I know if I will like the taste?

There are several causes of bad taste in tap water. Hardness of water, which is the concentrated amount of dissolved minerals like calcium or magnesium, is one of them. The higher the concentration of these elements, the harder the water.

Chlorine also directly affects the bad taste of our tap water. Other causes may be an excess of calcium or potassium in the water.

Our filters eliminate these substances, so the water that comes out of our tap will be clean, clear, and good-tasting.

How can I know if my tap will be compatible?

Our filter is compatible with standard thread taps. Please check if your faucet model is compatible before purchasing.

The thread of our filter is F22, the most common measurement. If your faucet has a different measurement, please check the adapter page to identify which adapter is compatible with your faucet and we will send you a new one free of charge.

My faucet has a standard thread, but how do I know if I will need an adapter?

To identify if you need an adapter, it is important to check this adarters page.

Why do I have to change it every 3 months even if I use it infrequently?

The refill is made of carbon, a material of organic origin that can be a breeding ground for microorganisms, which over time can give rise to the proliferation of bacteria. These bacteria accumulate behind the filter and can contaminate the water.
This is a normal situation with activated carbon filters, regardless of how many of you are at home, or if the filter has not been used for a while.

What do Tappwater tap water filters remove?

All Tappwater filters reduce over 100 substances, including chlorine, limescale, microplastics, heavy metals, PFAS, pesticides and pharmaceutical residues — while keeping the essential minerals your body needs. The Ultra goes further: its ultrafiltration membrane removes 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, making it ideal where tap water isn't safe to drink.

Do tap water filters really work?

Yes. Tappwater filters are independently lab-tested and certified (CE, Tap Score, FDA, lead-free). Unlike a simple jug filter, they reduce a wide range of contaminants — from chlorine to PFAS and heavy metals — directly at the tap. And unlike reverse osmosis, they do it while keeping the healthy minerals in your water.

Do Tappwater filters remove healthy minerals?

No. Tappwater filters reduce contaminants while preserving essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium — a key difference from reverse osmosis, which strips them out. The EcoPro Chrome SMR even adds minerals back through its Swedish Mineral Rock™ stage for an extra-smooth taste.

How long do the cartridges last and how much do refills cost?

It depends on the model: an EcoPro or Ultra cartridge filters up to 1,200 L (around 3 months) and the Compact up to 280 L (around 2 months). On subscription, refills work out from about €13.50 each — roughly €0.01 per litre, a fraction of the cost of bottled water — and we send a reminder each time it's time to change.

Which Tappwater filter should I choose?

  • EcoPro — our best-seller for everyday use.
  • EcoPro Chrome SMR — a chrome finish plus added minerals for the best taste.
  • EcoPro Compact — the smallest filter, ideal for small taps or tight spaces.
  • Ultra — maximum protection, removing 99.9% of bacteria and viruses for water that isn't safe to drink.
