water filtration

Which TAPP water filtration system should I choose?

Thinking about buying a water filter? With so many options available it can be difficult to choose. In this article, we will guide you through the different options and ultimately help you make the right decision.

Is your tap water safe to drink?

The first question to ask is whether your tap water is safe to drink. 98% of European households (99.5%) in Spain with access to public tap water can safely drink the water. This doesn’t mean that it tastes good or is healthy for you but simply that it’s less likely to kill you than bottled water.

All products are intended to make public tap water safer to drink by reducing chemicals such as chlorine and common contaminants. With a TAPP Water filter such as EcoPro, EcoPro Compact, PitcherPro, or BottlePro you can feel confident that you and your family are safe.

For households without access to public tap water, check out our Ultra filter for well water.

Faucet filter, pitcher, or bottle?

- Alkaline water.
- The Telegraph named it the most elegant water jar on the market.

- Slightly lower flow rate.
- Less convenient for tea and coffee drinkers.

Bottle filter
BottlePro is the perfect choice if you or your kids are always on the go. Fill up the bottle from any water source and drink. We even have an adventure version for hikes and travel to countries without safe drinking water.

Pros:
- Always access to clean tasty tap water.

- Optional Adventure Ahlstrom refill available.

Cons:
- Limited to one person per bottle (although you could share with partners or kids on the go).
- Must be cleaned frequently.

Tea or coffee drinkers
For tea and coffee drinkers we highly recommend our faucet filters to fill up the kettle or coffee maker fast and easily. Read more about why you should use a water filtration system for great-tasting tea and coffee.

How much water do you consume at home?

The average bottles water-consuming household in Europe consumes almost 1000 1.5 liter bottles of water per year. That’s about 125 L per month. Large households more and small households less. Another consideration is what you use water for. Households that use filtered water for cooking, pets, and watering plants may use more water.

Our recommendation is:
1-2 person households with low water consumption: EcoPro Compact, PitcherPro, or BottlePro if for one person.
2-4 person households with medium water consumption: EcoPro, EcoPro Compact, or PitcherPro.
4+ person households with high water consumption: EcoPro or PitcherPro (with more frequent refill changes).

How do you prefer to pay?

The last aspect is how you prefer to pay. Our annual subscriptions will save you money and ensure you never run out of refills. But if you prefer you can also choose our monthly model or buy refills when you need them.

Why do you have to change the refills on time?

The filters get saturated over time with contaminants and lose efficiency after the specified capacity. You may not notice this in taste as the change is subtle but contaminants may start slipping through. In addition to this, the anti-bacterial materials only last for a certain period which means that after 3 months you may experience considerable bacteria growth and thus contaminants from the filter. Therefore, always change the refills on time!
