Water lab test Toronto, Canada for TAPP Water Filters

Toronto Water Lab Test for EcoPro, EcoPro Compact, PitcherPro, BottlePro, Ultra, ShowerPro and other water filters by TAPP Water

TAPP Water claims that EcoPro (including EcoPro Compact) removes 100+ contaminants but how do you know this is true?

At TAPP Water we believe in total transparency and rigorous testing of the effectiveness of our products wherever they are used by customers. Therefore we continuously carry out independent water lab tests of the products in accordance with NSF compliance to ensure that they live up to our promise. The results are then shared openly.

First of all, the filters go through lab tests where contaminants are artificially added, filtered and output is analyzed to confirm effectiveness. Secondly, we take water samples from customers before and after filtering.

Below is a water lab test carried out by SimpleWater using a sample of EcoPro filtered water, as well as of non-filtered tap water. The test shows that EcoPro effectively reduces chemicals such as chlorine, chloride, nitrate and TTHMs while keeping healthy minerals like Calcium, Potassium and Magnesium.

What EcoPro doesn't filter

EcoPro retains the healthy minerals. See summary below.

Parameter Results Before**
(Tap Water
Results After**
(EcoPro)
Units Evaluation Type
Healthy Minerals
Calcium 15.5 15.59 PPM Normal Metal
Potassium 2.35 49.05 PPM High Alkali metal
Magnesium 9.68 7.09 PPM Normal Alkline earth metal

EcoPro General Property Filtration

EcoPro reduces limescale by more than 80% but does not reduce TDS, alkalinity or pH. Normally the pH is about the same before and after filtration but the activated carbon may increase pH slightly making it more alkaline.

Parameter Results Before**
(Tap Water)
Results After**
(EcoPro)

Alkalinity 100 110 PPM Normal
TDS 177.9 198.4 PPM Normal
Hardness 136.4 68.1 PPM Normal

Notes:

* Toronto, samples taken on January 31, 2020. Analyzed by SimpleWater in Toronto, Canada
** Water samples taken at 4L/min, after letting the water run for 30s. “Before” refers to unfiltered water, and “After” refers to EcoPro filtered water.
*** Total Chlorine and Chloramine is tested separately with strips and a chlorine meter since the chlorine evaporates on the way to the lab. As Combined Chlorine and Chloramine is essentially the same the test results are therefore very similar.
**** Microplastics count is based on Orb Media’s 2017 report concluding that 94% of US Tap Water contains microplastics or anthropogenic (man-made substances). We’ve used the average amount of particles found per gallon. The smallest particles were found to be 2.7 micron but most considerably larger. Therefore our testing has concluded that all microplastics particles found according to this test will be filtered by TAPP 2. Therefore 0 particles remain after filtering. The majority of the particles were fibers (98.3%) between 0.1–5 mm in length. The range was 0 to 232 particles/Gallon, with an overall mean of 21 particles/Gallon. The report also found that bottled water contained even more microplastics. For more information see Original Orb Media Report and peer reviewed analysis of the study in Plos One.
